Gamfratesi

The design concept of the GamFratesi duo draws its creative impulse from the fusion of tradition and renewal, and from an experimental approach to materials and chosen techniques. With their dual traditional backgrounds, Stine Gam and Enrico Fratesi draw on the classic Danish craft and furnishing tradition and on the classic Italian intellectual and conceptual approach. Understanding a tradition and actively engaging with it in the workshop makes its expansion possible. From this cross-cultural substrate they create furniture that respectfully reflects tradition while at the same time presenting unique stories, symbols and associations, often expressed in a minimalist idiom. GamFratesi aim to create furniture that illustrates the process and techniques that brought it into being, and that reflects a persistent exploration of the shifting border zone between harmony and disharmony.

The GamFratesi studio was founded in 2006 by Danish architect Stine Gam and Italian architect Enrico Fratesi. The studio is based in Copenhagen.
