Vico Magistretti

Vico Magistretti

Vico Magistretti (Milan 1920 – Milan 2006) architect and designer, was a leading figure of Milanese rationalism. He graduated in architecture in 1945 and immediately joined his father's studio. In the immediate post-war period, he was actively involved in the challenges of reconstruction. He participated actively in various Triennali, curating numerous sections. His many architectural works demonstrated a keen attention to the issues of prefabrication and urban planning. Active in the field of design, he was among the founders of the Associazione per il Disegno Industriale in 1956, and numerous creations of his — lamps, chairs, tables, and more — have enriched the history of design. A member of the Accademia di San Luca in Rome and the Royal College of Art in London, he received numerous awards both in Italy and abroad.
