Hermann Czech

Hermann Czech (November 10, 1936 in Vienna) studied architecture at the Vienna University of Technology and attended the Master School of Ernst Plischke at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. From 1974 to 1980 he was assistant to Hans Hollein and Johannes Spalt at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, and in 1985–1986 he was visiting professor at the same institution. In 1988–1989 and 1993–1994 he was visiting professor at Harvard University in Cambridge (USA), in 2004–07 at ETH Zurich, and in 2011–12 at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. His architectural works encompass planning, residential, educational and hospitality projects, as well as smaller-scale works and exhibition architecture. Czech is the author of numerous critical and theoretical publications on contemporary architecture.
