Designed by Vico Magistretti in 2003, the Magistretti 03 01 chair combines the warmth of wood and the timeless elegance of the design language of Gebrüder Thonet Vienna GmbH (GTV) with the refined style of the great master, one of the leading figures in architecture and contemporary design.From a design loosely inspired by traditional Chinese chairs, it is characterised by the clean-cut appeal of its shape, a hallmark of Magistretti’s work.

Vico Magistretti

Vico Magistretti (Milan 1920 – Milan 2006) architect and designer, was a representative of Milanese rationalism. He graduated in architecture in 1945 and immediately joined his father’s firm. Straight after the war he became actively involved in the reconstruction projects. He actively took part in various Triennials, taking care of numerous sections. His many architectural works show his great attention to the problems of prefabrications and the urban layout. Active in the design field, he was among the founders of the Industrial Design Association in 1956, and many of his creations of lamps, chairs, tables etc. have enriched the history of design. A Member of the Academy of San Luca in Roma and the Royal College of Art in London, he has won many prizes both in Italy and abroad.
