The elegant and sophisticated Café du Trocadéro accommodates some of the seating created by Gebrüder Thonet Vienna GmbH, selecting both the symbols of tradition such as the No.14 and the Wiener Stuhl and the contemporary lines of the Bodystuhl designed by Nigel Coates, each of which complement the environment thanks to their considerable aesthetic value.
Opened in April, the Café du Trocadéro overlooks the Eiffel Tower with a captivating view of Paris. The Café’s interior recalls the Parisian bistrot of the past, but reinterpret their refined aesthetics by simplifying the lines and decor and playing with minimal white and black contrasts enriched with details and precious materials such as brass, gold and marble.
The recollection of the past is created by the iconic No.14, conceived in 1860 by Michael Thonet, which was immediately labelled as the bistro chair, the result of nearly 20 years of technological research. Simple, versatile and ever-relevant, it is considered the first example of industrial design. Its structure consists of solid beech components that have been masterfully steam-bent and it is presented here in the upholstered seat version.
The Wiener Stuhl is distinguished by the simplicity of its all-embracing structure, composed of a small number of solid beech, steam-bent components. The backrest and back legs are moulded from a single piece of wood and it is available with different varieties of seats: in Viennese cane, beech plywood, also perforated or alternatively cushioned. Inside the Café is one of the most classic versions of the seat, characterised by its structure of black stained beech and seat in Viennese cane.
Thanks to the craftsmanship of the steam-bent beechwood, BODYSTUHL has a sinuous profile characterised by a structure with variable thickness. The wide seat and ergonomic backrest, made with Viennese cane, recall the shapes and materials of Lehnstuhl, already created by the English designer for Wiener GTV Design.
