Designed by Josef Hoffman in 1925, the N.811 has a timeless and modern design that gives the chair outstanding comfort and lightness. Its iconic lines have been chosen to furnish the Café Comercial in Madrid, the oldest bar in the capital that opened its doors 130 years ago and that re-opened in April after closing for renovation work.
The restructuring, carried out by the architect Miguel Ángel Santa of Studio Rehabilitar and Juan Luis Medina of Madrid In Love, has skilfully and innovatively restored the old finishes, maintaining a retro allure with an astute use of colour and quality materials.
The N.811 chairs furnish the first floor of the restaurant, where colours and textures alternate with deep blue tones, large velvet drapes and tropical wallpapers, while the ground floor features wide windows, large mirrors and quality lights that blend into the brick-coloured walls, the marble panelling and the granulated floor.
A sophisticated environment that elegantly welcomes one of the greatest bestsellers of Gebrüder Thonet Vienna GmbH and that testifies to the strong position of the company not only in domestic markets, but also in the contract sector, and which also has a specialised division that deals with large international contracts and research into solutions to meet any design needs.
