Cristián Mohaded is an Industrial Designer born in the Argentine countryside (Catamarca, in 1980). He has graduated from the National University of Córdoba. Shortly after graduating, he moved to Buenos Aires where he settled his own studio. Nowadays, Cristián Mohaded is a prolific product and interior designer and art director, and known as a benchmark in Argentine design. Throughout his career as a designer he has also won several design awards, such as Premio Vico Magistretti, De Padova (Italy), D&AD Global Student Award, Vitra Home (UK), Ternium Siderar (Argentina) and Salão Design Movelsul Brazil among others. He also participated in numerous national and international fairs and exhibitions. He is devoted to develop and design products for private clients and national and international companies, such as Roche Bobois, Gallery Serge Bensimon, Habitat and La Redoute in France; Voila BA, VacaValiente, Masisa El Espartano, Masisa, Inconcrete, Imdi, Y111 in Argentina, among others. In 2013, the Twist chair #2, (designed in collaboration with Arq. Ricardo Blanco) was selected by Dominique Forest and validated by the museum’s committee, to be part of the permanent design collection of the “Musée Les Arts Décoratifs” in Paris, making it the first Argentine product in this collection. The piece was noticed, among numerous projects exhibited during the design festival, for its representative value of Argentine Design and the work done by the two designers, both representing two different generations. Recently, the designer has been selected for Maison&Objet Americas 2015 with seven other emerging North and South American talents, as a “Rising American Talent”. Each of them represents his country and reflects the very fresh and emerging talent in his given design field.
